SAILING PROGRAMS
Introduction to Sailing: A short program conducted over two consecutive days. For absolute beginners and ideally suited to children who are not sure if they will enjoy the sport. The focus of the program is to introduce children to sailing in a safe and fun environment so that they can develop confidence around boats and on the water. A BBQ lunch is provided each day.
School holiday camps: Suitable for absolute beginners to more experienced sailors. The camp is conducted over 3 days and provides an opportunity to learn and consolidate skills and confidence.
Learn to Sail programs (during term): Suitable for absolute beginners to more experienced sailors. Courses are conducted by reference to school terms. Ideally (although not essential) an Introduction to Sailing or School Holiday Camp will have been completed by the child in order to get the most out of the program. The sessions cover skill development and introduce racing skills. Proficient sailors may be invited to join the Development Squad.
Development Squad: A program for sailors aged 10 years + who have demonstrated proficiency in sailing and basic racing and wish to develop more advanced skills in the sport. The focus of the squad is racing and it is expected that participants will also engage in a range of theory work relating to such topics as rigging and understanding weather patterns. Eligibility for this program is by invitation and the precise program content will be determined by reference to the particular interests and goals of the group.
